The Psychedelic Library ("we", "us") publishes educational information about psychedelic and ketamine research at thepsychedeliclibrary.com and through our email newsletter. This policy explains how we handle personal information, in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
What we collect
- Your email address, and any details you choose to add, when you sign up for our newsletter.
- Newsletter activity, such as whether an email was opened or a link was clicked. Our email provider measures this in aggregate so we can tell what's useful.
- Basic technical information that any website receives, such as the pages requested, browser type and approximate location based on IP address. Our hosting provider processes this to deliver and secure the site.
We don't use advertising trackers, and we don't ask for health information. Please don't send us personal health details; we can't give medical advice.
How we use it
- To send the newsletter you asked for, and the occasional notice about the site.
- To understand, in aggregate, which content is useful, and to improve the site.
- To keep the site and newsletter secure and to prevent abuse.
We never sell, rent or trade your personal information.
Consent and unsubscribing
We only email people who have signed up and confirmed their address. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time. You can also ask us to delete your information by emailing us (see below).
Who processes it for us
We use trusted service providers to run the newsletter (beehiiv) and to host the website (Vercel). They process information only to provide their services to us. These providers are based in the United States, so your information may be stored and processed outside Canada, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law.
How long we keep it
We keep your email address while you're subscribed. After you unsubscribe, we keep only what we need to respect your choice and meet legal obligations.
Security
We use reputable providers with industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect so there's less to protect.
Your rights
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw consent and ask us to delete it. We'll respond within 30 days.
Children
Our content is intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, let subscribers know.
